ZYC Energy is proud to highlight a recent collaboration with MyEnergy Engineering, showcasing the transformation of Todmorden Station’s off-grid power system in Oodnadatta, South Australia. This project, which incorporates ZYC’s SIMPO 5000 batteries, demonstrates how advanced energy storage solutions can meet the demands of remote locations while promoting sustainability.
A Remote Location in Need of Reliable Power
Todmorden Station, located 82 kilometers from Oodnadatta, is a working cattle station in a remote area of South Australia. With a team of just eight employees, the station relies solely on off-grid power to maintain operations. As the station’s needs grew, its outdated power system struggled to keep up, prompting a significant upgrade.
The Power of ZYC Energy’s SIMPO 5000 Batteries
MyEnergy Engineering, a trusted partner specializing in off-grid power solutions, was enlisted to upgrade Todmorden Station’s system. ZYC Energy’s SIMPO 5000 lithium phosphate batteries were chosen for their reliable performance, scalability, and ability to operate efficiently in harsh conditions. With 102.4kWh of ZYC’s SIMPO 5000 batteries now integrated into the system, the station enjoys a dependable and efficient power supply year-round.
System Upgrades and Enhancements
The upgrade involved replacing the station’s aging Lead Acid batteries with the high-capacity ZYC SIMPO 5000, which offers a greater energy storage solution for growing operations. Additional system improvements included:
· Inverter Replacement: Two Victron 48/15000 Inverter Chargers were installed to increase power delivery.· System Monitoring: A Victron CerboGX display was added for streamlined system management and real-time monitoring.· Temperature Control: An air conditioning unit was installed to maintain optimal conditions for the system.· DC Coupling: A Victron SmartSolar 450/100 inverter was installed to enhance overall efficiency.
A Seamless Off-Grid Solution
The upgraded system has transformed the energy reliability and efficiency at Todmorden Station. Key benefits include:
· Cost Savings: Reduced reliance on diesel fuel has significantly lowered operating costs.· Scalability: The system is designed to grow with the station’s needs, ensuring it remains future-proof.· Reliability: With solar as the primary power source and backup from a generator, the station now enjoys a reliable energy supply year-round.
