ZYC Energy & MyEnergy Engineering power a remote farm in Moockra with an independent, scalable off-grid system.
ZYC Energy is proud to partner once again with MyEnergy Engineering on another successful Remote Area Power System (RAPS) project — this time in Moockra, a rugged outback region within South Australia’s Flinders Ranges.
A Property Beyond the Reach of the Grid
Located around 35 km northeast of Wilmington and 60 km from Quorn, this remote property operates agricultural facilities including a shearing shed. With no viable access to the grid — and the high costs of connection making it impractical — an independent, reliable and efficient off-grid solution was essential for maintaining year-round operations and supporting the seasonal energy loads of shearing.
Seamless Backup Integration
The property had an existing backup generator on site. The new off-grid power system needed to seamlessly integrate with this generator, providing automatic start-up capability when required — particularly valuable during low solar production periods in winter.
A Tailored Off-Grid Energy SolutionMyEnergy Engineering designed and delivered a bespoke remote area power system to suit the property’s operational needs and seasonal demand fluctuations.
40 JA Solar panels were installed using the Schletter Roof Mount System on the existing shed.
Inside, a dedicated power wall was built, housing high-performance Victron components including the inverter, charge controller, and the Ekrano GX for system monitoring and management.
At the heart of the system: ZYC SIMPO 5000 — housed in a custom rack integrated into the power wall, ensuring compact, reliable, and scalable storage capacity.
To ensure uninterrupted power supply, the existing generator was connected with auto-start functionality, engaging automatically whenever batteries run low during extended periods of low sunlight.
