Off-Grid Power for the Roseworthy Campus of the University of Adelaide
Located about 50 km north of Adelaide, the Roseworthy Campus of the University of Adelaide has been a centre for agricultural education and research for more than 130 years. As part of its research infrastructure, the campus required a reliable off-grid power system to support a Wind Cube installation used to measure wind velocity and direction for agricultural studies.
Working with installation partner MyEnergy (https://www.myenergysolar.com.au/), ZYC Energy Limited supplied energy storage for a dedicated solar-powered off-grid system designed to support the equipment’s continuous operation.

Off-Grid System Overview
The Wind Cube system uses two high-precision scanners, each drawing 1 kW at 240V AC, to emit laser pulses and measure wind conditions close to the ground. To ensure uninterrupted operation and accurate data collection, the site required a stable off-grid energy supply.

The installed system includes:
·  Solar: 20 × JA Solar panels (ground-mounted)
·  Inverter: Victron MultiPlus-II
·  Battery Storage: 30.72 kWh SIMPO 5000 system
The system is housed in a weather-resistant steel cabinet and positioned carefully to avoid interfering with the wind field being measured.

Reliable Power for Agricultural Research

With the integration of ZYC SIMPO battery storage, the Roseworthy Wind Cube installation now operates on dependable solar-powered off-grid energy. The battery system ensures stable power supply for continuous monitoring while reducing reliance on generator backup.
Projects like this demonstrate how ZYC battery solutions support research, education and remote energy applications, delivering reliable off-grid performance for demanding environments.
